Spiritual Psychology
“The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are” -Joseph Campbell
We are all called to connect with our divine natures and awaken into the awareness of who we truly are. Through a spiritual lens, we can begin to explore, expand and open to the many dimensions of our psyche and realign with our unique light and purpose. If this resonates with you, invite your soul to session.
Are you ready to explore your own intuitive nature and authentic self?
Do you ask: Who am I? Why am I here? What is my purpose? How can I make a more meaningful contribution?
Are you wanting to connect with the synchronicities and energetic flow that surrounds you?
Do you believe that spiritual development is closely connected to personal growth and wellbeing?
What Is It?
Spiritual psychology is a blend of spirituality and psychology and is the study of how the mind influences spiritual development (and vice versa). Spiritual psychology is sometimes referred to as transpersonal psychology as it extends beyond the personal and into the metaphysical. Psychospiritual counseling takes the Soul, rather than the Mind, as its starting point of balance. From this expanded view of life, we can embrace the complex mysteries of our world while taking into account a variety of personal belief systems, energy systems, intuition, and subconscious states of awareness. The emphasis is on wholeness, and finding inner balance and integration of all the dimensions of the Self, aligning the body, mind and emotions to the soul.
Think of it as ‘Psychology with a Soul’: therapy that merges science and psychology of the psyche with your deeper spiritual essence, exploring the potential and purpose within each of us. Through various methods and techniques, it recognizes our inner most truth, the Self, supporting us to achieve greater presence, self-awareness, and authenticity. It also develops and strengthens our will, the ability to make decisions that align with who we are and what we truly, deeply want, ultimately leading toward greater harmony and participation among people, groups, societies, and the world as a whole.
Spiritual development is, in part, the process of inner awakening by which we attain self-knowledge, going beyond the mind and ego to realize who we really are. We have a physical body, and we have a mind and intellect. Spiritual growth involves the realization that we are not the body and the mind, but, in reality, we are soul. It is an ongoing interplay between one’s inward and outward journey, inviting us to believe in something beyond our material universe and reawakening our sense of connection to the mystery and beauty of life. Spirit can be defined in many ways, and is the part of you seeking meaning and purpose. It is your character, essence, core and light. You are a unique, multi-dimensional being with diverse strengths, challenges and needs and accepting all parts of your being can further enable you to realize your full potential.
How Can It Benefit Me?
For many of us, our spirituality is an essential part of our identity and can offer a rich and meaningful pathway to self-knowledge and deeper soul level healing. We may use different words to describe our relationship with the divine, yet the sensation of being grounded, connected and guided opens our awareness to something much greater than the human dimension. Your being knows what it needs to heal, yet clearing the clutter, slowing down and tuning in has become harder with societies distractions and expectations. Coming back to your center and flow state, allows you to experience your own inner vitality and move through obstacles. With the belief that symptoms are the result of imbalance, spiritual harmony becomes a key factor in resolving trauma and restoring overall health. In this context we can reconnect with our own spiritual source and access innate healing abilities. When your body, mind, and spirit are attuned you experience greater insight and intuition. When we embrace our authentic selves, we are able to remain vulnerable, present and resilient with life’s gifts and challenges.
Psychospirutual counseling can also help you confront and connect with the hidden aspects of your psyche/personality, bringing darker aspects of yourself into the light. It views negative life events or a symptom of mental illness as a journey and an opportunity for personal growth, rather than treating them as things to be eliminated, suppressed, or avoided. As our perceptions create our experience, this mindset allows us to approach our challenges as teachers guiding us back to our inner wisdom and loving nature. We can begin to see life not as something that is happening to us, but rather happening for us. Our challenges are the path to our healing and we are empowered by our ability to choose where we focus our attention, as being conscious allows us to gain greater insight and choosing what we believe and why.
What Does It Look Like?
Through a conscious, kind, and intimate relationship with yourself, you can investigate your inner landscape, increase emotional awareness, connect deeply to your intuition, restore harmony, and align with your unique purpose. As each person is at a different stage of their personal journey, a broad range of methods and techniques can be chosen to enhance your path. The emphasis is on fostering an ongoing process of growth that can gain momentum and bring a more joyful and balanced actualization to your life. Working with the Self and our deepest soul’s calling, we take steps to fully embrace all that we are, so we can step into our power, share our beautiful light and bravely live the life we are meant to live.
