About me
“As you start to walk on the way, the way appears.” -Rumi
Experience
I have been working as a psychotherapist for fifteen years, during which I have witnessed a wide variety of modalities that lead to wellness. I have worked in adult mental health centers, in youth group homes, in rural and impoverished communities, and in private practice. I have extensive experience working with mood disorders (depression/anxiety), eating disorders, trauma/PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, and perinatal disorders. I spent several years working in the field of public and international health with an emphasis on women’s health, autoimmune disorders, AIDS, cancer, Lyme disease, and chronic pain. Additionally, my past experience with nutritional and integrative medicine has emphasized the correlation between physical and mental health. My diverse background—with clinical, energetic, and interdisciplinary training—allows me to assess the relationship between body and mind, taking the whole person and their life experiences into consideration.
Approach
I am grateful for my training within the western medical model, yet also feel deeply aligned with alternative and indigenous modalities. I have found that developing the spiritual dimension of the self, utilizing energy or plant medicine, and accessing the transformation of breathwork are among the many methods that complement classic talk therapy or reach individuals who may feel stuck with more conventional techniques. Healing requires coherence of head and heart and generally, it’s the mind that needs to be adjusted to our emotions. Inner disharmony can often be seen as the true origin of emotional and physical disease. Emotional factors can play an important role in the onset, progress, and cure of illness, further affirming the relevance of integrative practices to heath. My intention is to address the multifaceted aspects of imbalance and dis-ease through holistic approaches, mind/body connections, and soul-level healing.
Personal
I am an American-Swede, raised on the Eastern Coast of the US and the Archipelago of Stockholm, Sweden. I am a lover of the sea and inspired by all things costal. I have lived and worked in Kenya, Ghana, Thailand, and India, and love to travel. My gypsy heart has landed in Montana for a number of years, which, despite its landlocked mountains, feels like home. My happy place is sleeping under the stars, digging in my garden and recreating in the outdoors with family and friends. I am a detail-oriented woman who is fascinated by people and the circumstances that surround me, always observing and frequently listening, paying attention to how our environment influences biology and how we evolve as people in this complex world. I am an intuitive drawn to flowers, moss, and magic, following the energy and flow that is both within and around me. Through my own experiences with expanded states of awareness, I have become passionate about inspiring and supporting others in understanding psychospiritual wholeness and cultivating a deeper intuitive connection to Self. Everything is interconnected and the work we continue to do on ourselves creates a ripple effect into our world. Individual and collective change can facilitate powerful transformations on many levels and I would be honored to be a part of your process.
